Greetings and welcome to the Ordus Inferi Community Forums.

Originally, OI was primarily designed to be a guild focused on developing and enjoying Funcom's Age of Conan but, now that that game continues to degrade into vaperware, OI has decided to open its doors into a multigame community where gamers of all types can come and gather information about old and new games on the market.

Over the last few weeks, the leadership of this community has been working on a system where we can make this community unique and enjoyable for players to be envolved and that system is still in the works. Little by little we are starting to tweak our site here to fit the new outlook and hopefully we will also begin to change the look of the site to fit a more unified theme unique to our name.

With this new philosophy, we've decided to just reorganize some previous discussions this guild had before and after our involvment with AoC about various games that we have and are interested in.

Everyone is welcome to join in and provide input. It is our desire that this community will grow and prosper as time rolls on. I look forward to our future.

Greetings fellow members of OI, allies, and guests to this forum. First, I would like to thank everyone who was a part of the creation and continued growth of this guild with the highly anticipated game Age of Conan. The year we spent preparing for this fateful release and the first few weeks in game with each of you were some of the best times I've had playing games in a long time. But Funcom, and this game itself, continues to disappoint and frustrate many of us to the point of closing down our accounts and moving on with little or no regret. To be honest, I feel the same way and for the last few weeks the leadership of OI have been trying to decide how the future of OI will play out and today I would like to offer each and every one of you a chance to join us in a new step for Ordus Inferi.

It was always the intention of this guild to form a community of gamers dedicated to creating a fun, exciting atmosphere where friends could join to together to accomplish goals for themselves and with a guild-centric mindset. Despite real life stepping in the way from time to time and some long absenses by myself and others, I still think this guild has the capacity to continue forward into the future of games with little difficulty. We are just going to leave Age of Conan behind and open our doors to the rest of the world of gaming with several upcoming gems highlighted here.

Over the next few weeks this site will be changing to model its new focus as a gaming community forum instead of its previous focus on one game alone. Also, at the same time, our guild charter will be altered slightly to fit the more open feel this guild will provide to its members across its many genres. While we have not buckled down a list of games that will be highlighted here in the recent future we are open to suggestions. Just start a topic in our Portal Spire section with your suggestion.

For those members of OI that wish to continue on with Age of Conan I admire your commitment and want to continue to offer this forum to you as a place to relay stories and keep the rest of us updated on how that game develops. We were involved in the Hyborian Blood Pact not only for the military ascepts that system could have offered but also as a means of gathering additional support for higher end raiding and events if there wasn't a stronger guild presence in game at the time. Offers have been made to accept members who choose to stick with AoC by both the Eminence and Blood of Crom and I have nothing but respect for both of our friends in that regard. The door is open either way.

Stay tuned for additional updates as Ordus Inferi starts to branch out into a new realm of adventures.

Greetings Ordus Inferi members and my fellow members of the Hyborian Blood Pact. Thank you for those who were able to make it to our first (and very exciting) Guild Event.

Because of the popularity of the event, OI has planned to make this type of event a weekly thing to run every Saturday from 2 - 5pm PST (5-8pm EST). As of now there is talk of BoC or the Eminence hosting the events near their guild cities but until some kind of round-robin system can be implemented OI will continue to host the events in Lacheish Plains and the next few events will now show up under our calendar.

If you think you would like to attend the event, the calendar link on the event will take you to a topic where you can sign up. It is our goal to have teams made as balanced as possible before the actual event so sign up as soon as possible. If you do not sign up on the calendar in time, don't worry. Just show up and we will place you as we have room.

The rules for each event will be spelled out in the first topic of each event so read the rules carefully.

Again, thank you for an awesome first start to these types of events. It is our hope that these events continue to grow and flourish in the coming months and well into the future.

Okay gents, we've got about a week to go before our first guild event and the High Pariah have decided to hold a guild skirmish! Cheesy We've invited the other guilds of the HBP but regardless if they show up or not we will just take the OI members who show up, divide up as evenly as possible and have it out for a few hours. Smiley

Date: Saturday June 14th.
Time: 1-4pm PST (4-7pm EST)
Location: Meet at OI Guild City in Lacheish Plains at 12:30 pm PST (3:30pm EST). It is possible that we will decide a different location for our event in case there are issues getting non-guild members into our instance but assuming there are no problems doing that we will hold the event around that resource area.

Rules of Engagment:
Onces teams are divided off each team will retreat to a selected location in Lacheish Plains and will have 15 minutes to determine a plan of attack. After 15 minutes the team leaders will annouce "Game on" and the engagment will begin. Over vent we will announce areas that are out-of-bounds and, obviously, leaving the instance will forefit your participation in the present engagement.

Every member will have a number of "lives" associated with the level that player is. Once you've reached your "cap" in lives lost, you will sit out for the remainder of that engagement.
  • If you are Levels 20-35 you recieve four (4) lives.
  • 36-50 you recieve three (3) lives
  • 51-65 you recieve two (2) lives
  • 66-80 you have one (1) life

We will have multiple engagements along several different senerios around the plains over the course of the event time. With each new engagement you will need to develop different strategies but the end goal is always the same. Which ever team has a member last standing, that team is declared the winner and we will try and get an award together for that player last standing.

Attenance on Vent Highly Recommended.

Hope to see many of you there Cheesy

Greetings Ordus Inferi and thank you for an absolutely great first two and a half weeks into the release of Age of Conan.

At this time I would like to bring your attention back to our Charter and an addition that was made today with the Contributory Rank System. This addition is purely an administration addition to give our members a more systematic approach to resolving issues that might arise within the guild and can be found under Article VIII – Subarticle Beta – Disciplinary Proceedings of our Charter.

However, as a brief overview, be aware that there should be a specific step-by-step procedure for addressing any issue that might come up in the future. Here's a short excerpt from the Charter addition.

To make an effort to be objective as possible with the administration of demerits for appropriate infractions, and to avoid as much drama as possible through the proceedings, there is a series of steps of progression that must occur in order to solve any issue.

  • As a member, if you feel you have been wronged in some way, whether that be from an inappropriate comment, assumption, policy, etc., the first step is to take about 24 hours to think about the proper way to respond.

All too often people who feel they are wronged by another naturally feel they need to retaliate immediately but their points are often over-shadowed by their anger or frustration. Taking a full day to calm down and think about the appropriate solution helps remove that emotional reaction and brings the situation to a level people can understand fully.

  • The second step is to address the individual you have an issue with directly and separate from the eyes and ears of the majority of the guild not involved with the dispute. This discussion should only include a “declaration of grievance” to the member to make them aware of the action that caused the initial issue and to work towards a way to fix the problem.

An appropriate place for this discussion would either be through a personal message through the forums (preferred) or by asking the member(s) into a separate channel on the Ventrilo Server.

  • If and only if—after this initial discussion—the member involved refuses to respond or engage in resolving the grievance should you bring the matter before the High Pariah or Pariah with evidence proving the infraction.

The most effective evidence would be through the use of witnesses around at the moment of the infraction. However, in order for the grievance to be heard you must have two (2) or more witnesses for us to take immediate action after the “hearing.”

These steps are in place in order to properly resolve any negative issue that might come up in the guild and these steps remain the same for all members of the guild, High Pariah included. If these steps are not followed in this order the issue will be dropped and if member’s continue to press the issue through unofficial channels (i.e. contacting High Pariah to resolve issues without talking with the offender first), they themselves run the risk of receiving demerits for undermining guild activity.

I am proud to announce that our OI has finally taken the first big step in crafting a great guild town. With the help of our guildmates we were able to purchase the plans and harvest the materials to create our first building, a keep.

Our next goal is to start constructing the trade post. The trade post will be a place were guildmates can of course trade items with those individuals in the guild. This is a good idea especially if you have a relatively high quality item. We would not want those items getting the hands of another guild that good potentially use it against us in PvP (this is what would happen if we ended up selling it at the universal auction house).

When the traders come back up we will have the starting of a very successful an active guild city. We have an large number of other great building to contruct as well. Libraries that increase destructive damage for our mage friends, temples that add priests, and so on. Many of these buildings will give global buffs to those players in the guild. So please help us out and start doing your part to insure we have a great and fruitful community.

For those selective few who do not know what spore is please get updated.

Now for the rest the populous that knows about Spore it appears that IGN has a very nice twelve minute demo of the creature creature that will be released on June 17th. The CC is probably the most seen editor for the game, however each new videos shows us what has been changed and added. Also they have a write up preview as well for those who enjoy reading instead of watching here. Spore has come along way since we first viewed in on March of 2005, but the wait is almost over. If you guys want the high resolution 12 min demo, you can find that here.

Also we have three more great videos of the CC editor here from eurogamer. Just goes to show the variety of creatures you can create. Expect more websites to be showing off their creatures.

The first review of the game has also come online giving it 9/10 from the Norwegian part of the Nordic gaming publication/website GameReactor. The obvious bias from it being a Norwegian website should, of course, be noted. (A poor Google Translation for those interested in reading the review.) However, it appears that Funcom may have made an MMO with enough pre-releas hype to actually create a blip on the map so long dominated by World of Warcraft.

I do not know about you guys but my personal opinion is that Age of Conan is probably one of the finest games that has hit the MMO market in the past 10 years. There are a few minor issues have with the game, but as an overall system it is damn near close to perfection at its finest. Lets hope the reviews continue to be favorable for Age of Conan within the next few weeks.

It looks like all those windows vista users that have been pineing over DX10 in Age of Conan will have to wait a few more months. Funcom, has announced the DX10 client will not be available until August. The news came as a shock when Funcom made a news announcement today that the Collectors Edition has been sold out. Tucked away within the announcement was the fact that the DX10 version is slated for release a little later then indented.

So to all those people who were thinking they were seeing direct X 10 graphics for the pre launch client were mistaken, we will have to see what graphically differences there will are when the client is release later in the summer. Read more to see the full news announcement from Funcom.

We will be taking role call for our first official guild meeting on our vent server the night of release. It is imperative that everyone come to this meeting, however if you are not able to attend for whatever reason please send Aradanite a message informing him of your absence. Everyone who does not either notify Ardanite or show up at the meeting will be taken off the roster. We are going to be discussing character classes, roles of the individuals in the guild, our future events, etc. Again this is a mandatory meeting everyone please be there on time and have this go as smooth as possible so we can all get back to gaming.

Thank You,
High Pariah Azazel

Is was brought to my attention by our guildmates that Funcom has recently changed the rule set for Bane to a Culture PvP which does not align with the guilds overall goals and agenda therefore we will be changing our starting server to Tyranny. Make sure everyone rolls Tyranny. I am sorry for the sudden change in plans, however Funcom did not give us any warning with this change. I will be sending out a newsletter to everyone notifying all of the change.

Thanks to everyone for understanding,

High Pariah Azazel

After a huge guild meeting on the eminence server (well over 60 people showed up), Ordus Inferi, The Eminence, and Blood of Crom has decided that Bane will be our server of choice. It was a difficult decision because Tryanny offered many positives for a gaming server as well. However, the majority has spoken. Make sure that on release (or pre-release) all guildmates choose Bane as our server of choice. Ardanite is going to be speeding to level twenty in order to register our guild, so lets get to work people.

Those who wanted to pay extra to explore Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures' lands a little early are probably going to be upset to discover that "early access" is now sold out. A post on the MMORPG's official forums gives little explanation as to why this occurred, but eagle-eyed players who read the fine print point to Funcom having discussed limited availability.

For those of you who are in the guild and did not preorder will have to wait for the official release date in order to play with the rest of us. We will be eagerly awaiting everyone.

It would appear as if the censorship squad of religious zealots and overly conservative freaks has already begun their bombardment on Age of Conan this week. As 1UP mentioned, a recent petition has started to include censor bars on all the ladies of Hyboria.

We know that this is going to be an issue that will probably acquire the attention of the press in similar ways that GTA’s Hot Coffee scandal as well as Fox News’s take on the Mass Effect overly gratuitous sex scenes.

However, here is my issue with this overly pompous petition:

  1. It is a Mature rated game for ages 17+
  2. If Barbie has been sold to little children for the past half century with triple E Racks and no nipples, I believe Funcoms nipple toggle should more then appease the mob.
  3. Who the hell really gives a damn that nipples are present anyway, America has such a Taboo on the human form it is amazing as an Art major I can draw nude models.

Look for more controversy as Age of Conans launch date draws nearer. I for one will not be the resident town streaker in Tortage, but the nudity and sexuality does play homage to Conans roots. Funcom has tried to capture that store, atmosphere, sexuality, and visceral feeling that is Conan. Too bad people love to jump on the band wagon without doing further research about the topic at hand

IGN has released another big article on their website that is sure to interest the large majority of our magic class allies. It is the most information we have had about spellweaving since it was unveiled almost two years ago. One of the most interesting parts I find about this article is found all the way at the bottom:

"Clearly this system adds quite a bit to how spellcasting works, and there's actually another layer to it. During spellweaving the caster can activate a special power that turns the 1, 2, 3, Q, and E keys into ability keys that control the ebb and flow of the phase, pushing it into overdrive for increased damage or slowing it down to prolong the process. While we haven't gotten to check it out yet, it sounds interesting. And as a bonus, every class gets specific graphical animations for spellweaving."

According to IGN:

"As of right now, Funcom is hoping it'll take around six months for the first guild in Age of Conan to move all the way through the raid content and defeat the final boss, the evil wizard Thoth-Amon. We'll have to wait and see if anyone can prove them wrong."

I take that as a pure challenge to see what we will be able to accomplish as one of the first guilds in AoC. Can it be done? Damn straight it can. Onyxia was taken down well before Blizzard ever played it to happen and I believe OI can be one of those first guilds that took down the the wizard known as Thoth-Amon. With some planning and 24 devoted players, it should be an interesting run. Lets face that challenge and exceed their expectations. :D

It has been awhile since I have last updated our news section, however I wanted to give everyone a few videos to browse over. These are two really nice IGN vidoes that go over some of the basics about Age of Conan. They highlight some of the more broad aspects of AoC for those who are not completely familar with the PvP or some of the general GUI systems. IGN has also added a few class previews that goes over a little more in depth about what each class has in their arsenal of attacks. Videos after the jump

Age of Conan has been in development for many years now and it has been in beta for quite sometime. During the development time some of the graphics that were once fairly modern a few has back has lost it luster and with that comes change. The Aoc development team has actually been working on implementing new ground textures to the game to better bring the world of Conan alive. The wanted to do this is such a way that it would not be more demanding on ones machine, but offer more realistic eye candy when roaming the world. Well, the developers and Funcom have finally pushed the new ground textures out in the AoC beta and as you can see from these screenshots it makes for a much more appealing scene to look at.

We finally get a better understanding of the Zerg in Starcraft 2. Today marks the first day that Blizzard has updated their page with Zerg information, both the Mutalisk and Hydralisk has been added as well as a decently sized page story here is a tidbit

"the zerg are a race entirely unlike the terrans or the protoss. They are composed of many different species integrated into the Swarm via zerg infestation. These creatures are rapidly and selectively evolved into deadly and efficient killers to further the driving zerg imperative of achieving absolute domination. The zerg make no use of technology to create their weapons, armor, or starships. Instead, these functions are efficiently fulfilled through biological adaptation and planned mutation of the zerg strains. Even zerg buildings are in fact specialized organs within the living, growing organism of a zerg nest."

Check out the Hydralisk and Mutalisk, after the jump.
